Congrats! I get married in May next year and I am really looking forward to it. I have had a big input into the wedding (well I think I have), I think my speech is going to be the hardest bit for me.

Sounds like an expensive party to me, except you have to feed people you don't like and pretend you enjoy their company and bad breath.

Brothers one was ridiculous on Saturday. Only renewing vows, easily cost 15k... Could have just had a party, I understand even less renewing vows. Willy waving IMO

£15k to renew vows
Call me dull but I'd sooner dump that money into my mortgage or even buy a car with the money.

He's minted, no mortgage and is in some really old house worth absolute fortune. They already both have brand new cars aswell
Probably similar to me spending £100

Problem with weddings is that as soon as you mention the word 'wedding', prices increase significantly. We're having an outdoor/tipi wedding in the woods in January - better get some thermals.
Honeymoon was pretty much the first thing we booked.

Sounds awesome, I'm poor so she won't be getting anything like that We've been looking at Kos/Rhodes, should be hot that time of year and some reasonable deals going right now.

She's massively down to earth so our day is gonna be straight forward. Just family for the wedding, drive down the road (all of 3 minutes) to reception venue, canapes, meal etc by the river. Home for 4pm for Netflix/chill time, back out in the evening to our local for a few drinks with friends.

For honeymoons go and speak to Kuoni, we have ours booked there. You get complementary drinks while you are there (we had champagne), do discounts for different jobs (ie 5% for NHS) and have some really nice hotels. We are doing 9 nights in Mauritius, 5* all inclusive, beach view room, etc for about £1700 pp
In total our wedding will come to about 6k without the honeymoon
