Hi guys, been looking at new motors for the mrs and she has taken a liking to these, seem to go for decent money now as well. Have asked a few mates about these but no one seems to have a lot of info on them, have looked online and looks like transfer box problems are common but thats about all i can find.

Has anyone had any experience with these? Common faults etc

Its the 2.0 diesel m sport ones weve been looking at, around a 2008-2009 models.

Any help would be much appreciated, cheers

What is it with women and big cars, see loads of women driving Land Rovers, X3/X5/X6 Porsche Cayenne's etc.

Most women struggle to park Pug 107's

Auto Gearbox made of toffee..

The 2.0d is rather underwhelming and not much cheaper to run than the 3.0

A 2.0d manual is the best choice if you want a 'cheap' to run car.

I really wanted one until I drove one, it's just plain and boring and actually quite noisy. The 2.0d auto (which is what I wanted) was only doing late 20s early 30s to the gallon which is pants for a car that struggled to pull the skin of a custard.

Bloke at work as a 2.0D M Sport 2012. Gets 40MPG quite easy IIRC. Although I guess that's a newer engine and model than above.

Comparing the newer models to the old is like comparing chalk and cheese.

Funny you should say that as my mates E90 320i has had loads of problems with his electrics. ECU blew up which cost him £1400 to fix and now some sensor has gone wrong, which costs £400 odd.

Much rather stick with the older ones like mine.

E90 has a retarded ECU position. It gets flooded easily and drowns.
Talking from experience. £1400 for 335d too

It is compared to the newer models...

Even my ML320 regularly returns 27-33mpg and its heavier with a bigger engine!

It's a status thing. Most of them just want to roll up at the school gates thinking they're a footballers wife. Whilst the kids are at school they go
Out for coffee with friends telling them about how she owns a BMW.

Its probably a safety thing tbh.

Most middle age mums dont want to cart their kids around in a small engine converted hatchback when they can feel safer in a big RR etc.
