Evans has quit.
Tried watching it but just couldn't stand his presenting. Saw a bit of last nights and thought Matt was ok but the new-old cars was just a copy of what had been done before. Think the problem was they tried to stick too much to the old format so it just ended up being like a bad cover version, all you end up doing is wanting the original. Maybe now they take a new direction, more serious and car focused and let the old 3 dick about on their new show, definitely room for both imo

Although there might be other mitigating circumstances:

They should left that show be once it was done and dusted. Another load of our license money spunked on dross.

It couldn't have been improved on though, so they should have put it to bed when they had the chance.

The 2 people that did the extra gear, even they did bits for the top gear show were great. I'd watch it if they were presenting it even though I've no idea who they were.

Anyone who pays for a TV licence deserves to have it spunked on dross tbh.

I find it weird they said part of the reason for quitting was that the show gradually lost viewers each week, and last night's being the lowest.
Last night was the only one I didn't watch live because the football was on at the same time!

They should have gone with a new format rather than replicating the old as the presenters can't and haven't done that. And going up against the Euro's was a big mistake, they should have aired it afterwards.
Overall it's been ok - Evan's reviews/videos were decent, just his audience presenting is crud; far too much TGI Friday, shouty shouty. Hopefully they get rid of EJ and Schmitz, neither can present.

Luckily people do pay for it as it helps to fund and develop various platforms and technologies you use to watch TV, listen to the radio etc

So has the government but that wasn't the point i was making.
Fact i was making was that the BBC's R&D department has helped develop, fund and maintain a lot of technology people use (HD, Economy 7 timers using Radio 4 clocking etc) in every day life, yet people too easily dismiss the BBC because they don't watch some telly programme
