Hi, Not been on here for a while but I seem to remember there being a few R/C enthusiasts.

My son who is 4 is Lifeboat crazy so for his Christmas last year we got him a toy R/C Lifeboat

It seems as if water has got in to the only circuit board on the boat which for some reason doesn't seem to be protected from water.

You can see the corrosion on the bottom of the board here

The wires going to the board are from the battery/on off switch ans the wires that come out go to the two small propeller motors. I am assuming from my limited knowledge that this board must be the receiver and speed controller all-in-one type device.

The question is what do I order to replace this damaged board in order to save the lifeboat??

Also whilst the boat is in bits can the motors be upgraded to make i faster

Thanks in advance folks

First thing I'd be doing is trying to clean the board, perhaps with something like a toothbrush, carefully checking that there's no corrosion overlapping multiple circuits or contacts on the PCB board.

I can't see the state of the micro controller (largest black square), if that's broke you might be stuffed...

Looks like a custom receiver. Googling the part found nothing. You could try contacting the manufacturer.

It may be possible to hack bigger motors in but tbh it looks just a toy you may be better off finding some kit boat to build.

If you do get a replacement board you can waterproof it by painting liquid tape all over it

No doubt you can upgrade the receiver and the motors but its not normally easy on a kit that's not designed to run it, particularly as it'll need to be water tight.

Do you know what brand it is? No doubt a complete duplicate unit where the controller has been lost would be a good way to find spares but quite rare I would think.

Looks like a combined brushed speed controller and receiver to me (the M1 and M2 outputs being the give away)..

You'll need a new radio set and a pair of brushed speed controllers..

BTW it looks like a RadioLink receiver, (what does it say on the transmitter) if it is you can buy another standalone TF-7 receiver to save having to buy a new transmitter.
