hmmmm 6,5"

mine wudnt go in without custom builds cos the magents were too big an wudnt clear the window!!

as for wirin its simple enough, u shud get a cross over wi em, the speaker wire u take off ur old speaker goes into the crossover as ur input, then u will have 2 outputs, ur tweeter and ur mid, just run the wires accordingly to the correct speaker!!

gd luck!!

hope this is of some help :-)

The Adaptors are labelled up for the Astra/Astravan. I got my 6.5 Powerbase speakers in with a little alteration.
Post if they go in with the windows down, if not I have a little solution for you to try.

the autoleads corsa adaptors (for 13cm)will house most 17cm speakers.

I used the corsa ones for my 17cms.

How can the 13cm adaptors have 17cm speakers fitted in them???
They autoleads do two sets of adaptors, 13cm ones labelled for the Corsa and 17cm ones labelled for the Astra/Astravan.

the adaptors that screw into the doors fit 17 cm's, but an extra plastic 'ring' is supplied that screws into that, allowing 13 cm's to be fited. I didnt get the astra/astravan ones, i just got the corsa ones and didnt use the extra ring. 17cm went in fine, but nothing bigger will go! HTH, matt

Mine are 6.5" and they fit straight in..
Apologies to IntaCepta for doubting you, I had a look in halfords and the adaptors come with both plates for 13cm and 17cm, it's just that I was advised to buy the astra ones cos they are a slightly diferent depth allowing the bigger magnet speakers to just fit.

its cool mate,
but with the astra ones i found that the adaptor pushed too much against the grille, which mishaped my grill pod.

so i changed back to the corsa ones.

i'm not 100% but i came to the conclusion that if you were to fit large (17cm/6") speakers then the original door card (plastic bottom half) would not fit over the speaker as it would now stick out a fair bit!?! yes no?

from my experience it's not so much as size ie 13cm/17cm but more to do with depth.
if you can find some slim speakers (ie dual mags)-no problem
but if they had large magnets then obvioulsy the have to sit further out from the door to allow window clearance thus meaning custom door pods...

correct me if im wrong but thats my theory.

i really didnt know that you could mount 6" speakers with adapters plates without having to mod the oe door pocket.

I had 6.5" in mine piece of piss!

right wot you need to do is - get as much of the door pod as possible off each side!

undo your original tweeter wires.

find were your incoming wires are ( were they pass thro the door) snip these wires and wire them to the input on your crossover unit ( the gadget which divides low and high frequencys) wire your 6.5 inch speaker to the part that says mid! and the tweeter part to the part that says either +3db or something along those lines. if you want to amp these up I found it easist to work from the door back following the wires to the headunit then snipthe wire and connect you amp wire to the freshly cut wires ( not to the stereo ) and itll run perfec!
