It will be your exhaust banging on your axle, mine does this, what u need to is get a pair of good quality exhaust rubbers and this should stop it .

Its a pain in the arse innit mate.
I'm down 60mm and it rattles even with stuff in the boot let alone 3 people in the back.
It is the exhaust rattlin on the axle like scotty19 said.
Try and raise your backbox as high as possible.
If all else fails get a custom system built on your car.

yeah, but i think i know what it is, does the spring have a gulley to sit in so the end of the spring is supported. similar to the front spring. cos it doesnt have one at the bottom but does it have one on top?

I had this problem as well......it requires a big peice of Foam or rubber being wrapped around the axel at the point where the exhaust is striking it.
Also, rotate the clamp

Its VERY normal for coils to touch, dont worry. That could cause whats known as spring chatter but its nothing like a BANG!
You sure you fitted the bumpstops back on the dampers, otherwise it will 'bottom out' metal on metal.
Last real thing would be the exhaust as mentioned above. To fix that forget all your foam tricks and go find a garage with a blow torch, simply heat up the bend until it glows then carefully just put a slight bit more bend on it, just enough to give you clearance, then hold it their and blow on it to cool it and set it in its new position. Moving the clamp around sometimes helps too.

Same prob, but local mechanic said he reckoned it is the rear brake bias valve, you know that little shitty spring thing on the rear axle. But if it was that, I would be locking up the back all the time, and I aint!!! Hmmmmmm, I wonder!!

U sure? my 1.2 16V GLS 5door has one... Maybe just because its a 5 door like? Dont think that would make a bang, its on a spring anyhow.

we are talking about the rear brake compensator, the thing you have to mod if you are dropping your car any more than 60mm. maybe its just my car but i dont got one. vauxhall told me it was only on the 1.4 and upwards

you just answered the problem i think
theres meant to be a cup on the beam with a stopper in it to stop the spring going round in circles
