I was looking on the Auto Trader at Honda Prelude's, at say 1995 models. What's the best one I can get that has an auto box? Don't really know much about the Prelude so any help would be much appreciated, cheers!

why are you always after an Auto? did you do your test in one, or just really like them?

I'm just lazy! Will it make much of a difference if I get the manual version then (apart from gearing etc.)?

never really heard about a prelude auto......
i've had both, still do.... and prefer auto's for around town.... but you really need control over gears to have a bit of fun out in the open....

There is a very plentiful supply of Prelude's in automatic form! Have a look on the Auto Trader web site and you'll see what I mean!
I'm just a bit undecided between an auto Prelude and a manual Scooby... The missus and I have decided to get like a decent sporty number for cruises and stuff, and a normal every day car for work etc., like a Pug 106/206/306 etc.
Thing is, if I got a Prelude auto, she won't wanna drive it because it's auto and she has never driven an auto before!
Suppose I could get a manual Prelude... Hmmm... decisions decisions...

Most auto Preludes are imports.
You can get them with a h22a I'm sure... just look on the engine block or the vin plate for the letters h22a. Also it will be twincam and say Honda Vtec on the valve cover.
UK Spec I think the only autos are the 2.3 and 2.0, both non vtec, with the 2.3 bieng dohc.

Just like weighing up the pro's and con's really, like overall purchase price, insurance, servicing, etc.

UK spec VTEC's are only manual.. a lot of JDM VTEC's are Auto..
Just make sure you dont get an F22 engined one, not a H22.. The F22 is only 160bhp.. and is a JAP only engine..
Definatly go for a manual if at all possible, a lot faster on acceleration, as you are always 'in' vtec.. with the auto due to the wider ratios you tend to drop out of vtec when you change gear.
The auto is also a different auto box to the one used in UK H23 cars, so parts could be a problem..
go for a Jap bb4 VTEC Manual, with no sunroof, no airbags, no 4ws, and try to get one with an LSD (it will be stamped on the end of the gearbox casing, and will also have a LSD sticker in the door shut.)

There's a whole lot of "IMO" missing from the replies on this thread.
