Even if you choose an insurer who does this, the underwriters can always override and not allow it. I only started being able to do this from age 25. Don't forget that you're only covered for damaged caused while driving the car on a foreign policy, if its stolen or damaged while parked at your destination the liability still rests with the original policy-holder. This also means that should the car not be insured in conjunction to your own TP coverage, its not insured as soon as you turn the engine off. Bad thing if you're planning to park on a public highway.

is there a limit on the engine size of the car that you can drive? (eg. no bigger than the engine that is on the insurance policy)

Some of them, yes. They could choose from engine size or insurance group and say that the other car mustn't be larger capacity or a higher group than your regular vehicle or any other limit they prescribe.
