except mine isn't
Just took my T reg 1.2 16v Sxi on the rollers at power engineering, this is year 1999 so in theory isn't one of the later sxi's (2000,2001)...
People have been saying they're maybe 65 or maybe 75 for ages... but had mine rr'd today and the bloke rolling roading it confirmed mine was a 75 bhp version - except today I was only putting out 71 bhp
the reason is, he said my air flow meter was not working correctly. So as I got past about 4000 RPM, it stopped pumping more fuel in and therefore is currently lacking power.
I've felt this for ages, but my dad just said I had simply got 'used to it' - also explains why I went so slow down santa pod and why, when I change from 3rd to 4th (so it drops to say 4.2k RPM) it feels like there's nothing there...
as you'll see from my power graph, it goes lovely up to 3700-3800rpm, then dips a bit, then starts leveling off before finally completely dropping off after 5000 rpm.
this is a 16v car, it should pull quite nicely to more than that.
So yes, they are 75 - but no mine isn't, yet... gotta get that sorted. I felt it used to be pretty nippy, and wasn't really any more. He also said its quite a common thing to go and it doesn't show up on the 'orange management light'
Was a good day at P.E today - tim + fad got some good results. and Kris-td's was bloody good 99 bhp and 132 lb/ft of toque!
mine was 71 BHP and 87 LB/ft of torque... tempted to fix this and the go back and make sure its all running ok.

Mne did when it went. It's quite common but easy to fix.
My orange engine management light is on just now but I've been told it's not the AFM this time, ithe the EGR Valve.
Not disagreeing with u but my 1.2 16v GLS doesn't feel like 75bhp when it's at full health, and it's a 1999 model too. Could it be just the SXi's maybe?

yes, I believe the GLS's have different gear boxes to the Sxi's - plus it may be the sxi only? but the engine looks identical.
Sxi has a very close ratio gear box, so - accelerates quite fast compared to the GLS (my mate has one) - I used to beat him till my air flow meter went. I did wonder how he was pulling away from me?

No don't think so, but they tend to both go at the same time I was told.
I got a new EGR Valve but it was for the 1.2 16v Corsa C so slightly different. I gotta send it back and get a Corsa B one as soon as I have the cash.

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirc valve.
ICV = Idle Control Valve
2 totally different systems, in that the EGR is pumping exhaust gases back into the inlet to be recycled over and over before leaving the engine.
ICV basically adjusts idling revs according to ambient air temperature and temperature of engine.

i was well impressed, couldnt believe it.
ive got a bit of a dip in the torque curve between 1000 and 3000 rpm so ive gotta sort that which would explain why its dead below 2500 rpm. still made over 90 bhp at 5500 rpm.
well impressed, oh and it was running low boost only 13 psi, said it would make more power and torque on the road cos it normally boosts upto 16 psi

i know, it peaks at 3500 but apparently my standard exhaust is restricting it low down hence the poor figure.

cost us 35 quid but that was cos it was a club meet, would be more if you just go on your own. very good place, i would defo go back. the rollers seemed pretty accurate judging by all our and the volvo's results.

oh dear? any reason for this? he was expecting 90 bhp, though the torque isn't bad.
if I get mine running correctly I may have more power than adam p
