I am being reported for the above after basically swapping lanes twice on a one way street at speeds of 30-40 (copper didnt know, he just guessed), although i indiucated each time and got flashed in, i didnt cut anyone up.. anyway he said its now up to the crown prosecution service whether it goes to court... if it goes to court dya reckoni could get let off with a fine?? coz on the dvla website it says 3-9 points and i really dnt think that what i did was all that bad...

anyways, what do u lot reckon?

ohh yeah, i was not racing, the copper actually stated that on the statement.

edit

the summons says "driving a mechanically propelled auto mobile without due care and attention"

it'll probably get thrown out of court for lack of evidence.

also most things on website (penalty wise) are usuallly 'maximum penalty'.

So you may still get a fine, or you may get 3 points max I'd have thought.

My mate got caught doing about 90/95 in his R5T up a long hill in penistone. The speed limit is 60 and only reason he got fined and points is cause he said he was doing about 65. The police officer (only one of them there) said this "IF I COULD PROVE YOUR WERE SPEEDING I'd have banned you" So only reason my mate got done is because he admitted speeding, they dint have a thing on him. Which is the same reason that you may possibly get done mate. signing = accepting you were at fault. (nothing in the law can make you sign a document you disagree to!)

Its against the law to exceed the set speed limit. Some PO's might let you off with a slapped wrist, but its definately against the law, so you would get done for it if the police officer felt so inclined. He was probably just happy to get him for that since he saw him absolutely booting it anyway.

you were actually allowed 10% and 1mph for calibration. But I was told that had stopped, you were only allowed the 1mph.

That must be the case anyway cause he was done!! (Mind you, around 65 can mean anything from 60 to 70!)
