I know that this may sound like a silly question, but
-can i change brake discs, obviously bigger, without changing calipers. If so how big?
-if i do change the calipers, any advice on how to do so and any recomendations on which ones to use.

Theres a few differnt routes u can go, depending how much u wanna spend. from £100 for Astra GTE discs and callipers upto £600 for a Highspec 4 pot kit.

2lt 16v about 100
V6 about 150-200

what do u need to change to astra GTE brakes

calipers pads discs, wat bout brake lines and fluid do they have to be changed as well

caliper disc pads thats it

remove wheel
unbolt caliper & remove (2 bolts underside, 7mm allen-key fitment)
undo securing screw on disc & it just falls off

fitting is just reverse of above

christ.... buy a fuckin haynes manual

or batter it with a big hammer. That would be what i would do.

PS - i recommend 300mm HiSpec with 4pots.
Wilwood midi/mini lights are AndyH's 4pot weapon of choice
LuckyB had 286mm HiSpec 4's
RichS ( ithink ) has 320mm Hispec 4's

if you were buying new aftermarket pads and discs (for a astra gte) could you then just get the calipers from the astra gte and that would be all you would have to do?

and are they ALOT bigger?

Adam K, you dont by any chance know of anyone running HiSpec 4pots who's looking for some brand new boxed, never fitted Mintex 1144's?

Im looking for around £35 for them. Bought them in prep for my HiSpec Billet kit but changed my mind at last minute and im going for Wilwoods now, which they wont fit. Let me know if you do please, cheers - T
