drive the front up some ramps, and run the engine for a minuite, just to warm the engine a little if its from cold
then turn off engine, wait a few mins, get a cup of tea & some biscuits....
when the top of the engine is just warm, but not hot, take out the dip stick & also undo the top oil cap
get a decent sized bucket, slide under the car, and at the base of the engine is the sump nut, (wear some plastic-rubbery glove things) gently undo this nut, and then let the oil pour out into the bucket till it stops dripping.
once done, remove the oil filter (you need a chain/belt tool to do itk, halfords will have them, or you may be able to do it by hand.) Clean off the excess oil around where the oil filter was, and then fit a new oil filter, but smear a small amount of fresh oil on the rubber seal on the new filter. tighten it by hand until you cant tighten it any more, DONT use any tools on it
put in the sump nut & tighten that up, do it to hand tight with a spanner then a quarter turn, dont overtighten it
now slowly top up the oil (about 4 litres) keep stopping every so often to let the oil drain down
keep checking level too, so you dont overfill or underfill it
once done, put the dip-stick back in & also the top cap, then start the engine & run it for a few mins (the oil pressure light will come on for a min while it builds up pressure, but will go out)
once its run for 2 mins, stop it & leave for 5, then re-check the oil level & top up if needed, also just look underneath make sure nothing is leaking!
take of ramps, job done!
