In winter your better off with a thinner tyre as it punches through the snow/ice/slush as it has a smaller surface area than a wider tyre.
In winter, your better off in a 1.0 Nova with sh'te tyres than you are in a 2.0 Scooby with wide tyres.

Wider tyres tend to be softer as they're "performance" tyres so grip the road a bit better.
The bad boys you have on your 13's will more than likely be harder to make them wear less as they're built for normal road conditions.
This might be why you think that Icy

we are recomended to use the standard size tires for the car for winter tires. mine is 165/65-14 and that is tiny compared to my summer 205/40-17

yeah, loooks loads better in the second pic!
recomended by who?
i guess if the weather is really bad then smaller wheels n tyres would be best. plus the salt on roads eats at the alloys
