is that a fuel line? then yes that could cause it
fix that and see if it starts
if not then cheack relays etc

i thought fuel lines were blue and brake line green?
vacumm pipes are black?
i caould be wrong as i havent worked on a 2ltr

It isn't, it looks like it runs behind the powercap to me.
Mine aint here at the mo so I cant have a look and the Haynes is in my brothers car.
Straighten it out and see what happens.

yeah , what u can do is cut the fuel line down too just below alternator and join it from there . just make sure you clamp it up nice and tight but not too tight that you squash the plastic fuel line.
