heat it for 5 mins with a hair dryer then twist off...

put a screw driver up the inside and pull and twist and lever with th driver!heat it up abit aswell shud pop off in the end

I have just completed this endeavor. I'm sorry to say that heating and twisting didn't do the job. I believe it will be very difficult to save the existing gear knob.

So, with this in mind, take a small hacksaw to it.

scrw driver did it for me and alot ov twist and pull
