Changed my air filter back to standard after having a BFO to get rid of my flatspots. but now i have em at 4k revs really bad. and this is with standard setup. do i need to reset the ecu or anythin after the change? drive terrible now

disconnect battery for 1.5hrs, reconnect it, start engine and leave to idle for minute then drive normally (no thrashing) for a bit and allow ECU to program itself. shuld be ok then, i had same problem when i put KN filter on.

im tempted to reset mine aswell....got a real shitty flat spot at bout 3k, if i disconnect battery for 2 hours or so will this affect my alarm??? is there a simpler way to reset it???

its not that hard to disconnect the battery tho, make sure u disarm ur alarm and if u have a standard vauxhall alarm u have to disconnect the battery within 20secs(i think) of turning the ignition off

think i can just about manage to disconnect the battery mate!!! no standard alarm, got a toad...last time i disconnected my battery for a while on my rst it killed the clifford alarm!!

1.5 hours? I always leave mine off for only about 10 mins and its reset.

paulj ur peak torque is gotta be way out the 1.4 16v is only 92 standard

i cant find it anywhere. If i disconnect my battery over night will it be ok?its coz im gettin my alarm fitted 2morra so i was thinking of gettin it done b 4 hand?? cheers

they will have the battery off when they do u alarm. but yeah just leave it for a few hours and then start it and follow the instructions given above

yeah leva it ticking over for 3-4mins then just drive normally for 30mins tops id have thought!

is there any way i can disconnect the ECU and leave the alarm hooked up to the battery? it goes all haywire if i leave it without power for a bit. my mate has the same alarm and it did it to him

get K&N 57i mate , it growls like a bitch and with reset ECU i aint got any flatspots either throughout the revs.
Yea i jus reset mine then left it for few mines coz it will idle at 1,200rpm for few seconds then slowly drop to bout 750ish. Jus drive steady for 20mins or so to give ecu time to adjust itself to new fuel/air intakes.

i have a K+N, changed it for a clio 16v pipercross.
Its massive, MUCH louder than the gay little K+N.

Na pipercross is shit, could hardly hear it on my old car. They are also piss poor quality compared to K&N. ill stick to K&N thnks mate.
