Depends how long you keep it. You'll do OK deal-wise at the moment, just don't sell it any time soon.

I am considering this too, even the dealer told me its a bad idea. It'll fall like a tonne of bricks when the new one comes out (very soon)

So don't sell it for a few years!
Its only an issue if you want move it on in less than 24 months.

i would, but wen i do get it (summer sum time) i will only be 19 with 1yrs ncb, so insurance will be quite high on the 1.8 sri. (1.8 sxi is a few insurance grps lower)
if i got one id prob keep it for 2yrs, maybe 3

I did think about this, but for insurance reasons, a 1.6 is gonna be too expensive (got quote on a p-reg 1.6 sport, and that was almost £1800 fc) and a 2.0 is a deff no way.
A 1.4 wouldnt be that bad, but i dont really like the way the corsa handles (and thats with a full fk suspension kit) If i cant find a mk4 for the right price, i may consider a 1.4 16v conversion

moddedcorsa, the 1.8 sri is only group 9,and at 19 1yrs ncb ur looking at around 1500 fc( i was quoted 1900 fc at 18 no ncb) mk4 astras are cheap at the mo so there gonna be a steal when the mk5 comes out, if i were you id get one as long as your gonna hang onto it for a while and a 1.8 sri would be a nice step from a 1.2 8v

thanks.
Ive headr that the mk4 handles very well, is comfortable, and the 1.8 16 engine is very nice, quite revvy (some say its feels like a c20xe when driven)
And they look ace!!
