Someone told me today that it decreases back pressure and could loose me BHP. What do you think?
I'm getting my centre box cut out, and replaced by a straight through pipe

so many of us are in the same boat. 1.2's, who cares if it loses BHP its not as if we would actually gain anything in the first place.

Go for a sebring centre section mate, seem to remember you've got a sebring backbox??
Have the XT1 and sound pipe on mine, no loss in power, actually seems to pick up better now...

Depends on the bore size tbh. On a standard engine it wont really do it any favours. I've got a straight thru system, but to keep back pressure i kept the bore to 2", and thats on a 2.0 16v!

I sell Sebring, and they don't make the centre section for Corsa C's yet, hense why i'm doing this. I am changing my twin circle for a single oval.
Corsa Ash, do you have any pics of your XT1? Is it corsa C?

Poewrflow in St Albans wanted £120. My mate at a tyre fit place is doing it for about £20. All they do it cut and put a bit of straight pipe in, then clamp it at the ends

if n e thing it would lose a bit of low down torque and gain a bit of power at the top end of the rev range

Looks like its going to be nothing serious then I don't wanna loose any of my little power. I know the Sxi's aren't fast, but they aint actually that bad.

i personally wudnt get a tyre place to fit a bit of mil steel pipe to a mild steel centre, if your gonna do it get it done properly and get a stainless centre pipe.
Dont get powerflow as they use crap grade stainless in the pipework, go to longlife there work is top notch.

i thought back pressure is good? cos on the PVD description of the remus back box says it reduces back pressure by 85% resulting in 5% power gain

Every exhaust has back pressure, its how much its got, and how much it gains or looses when u fit new exhausts to the car

Indeed. By reducing back pressure, you allow the gasses to flow more freely, meaning an increase in torque/BHP at high revs, but a reduction at low revs. TBH its not going to be that noticable powerwise really, so you might aswell go ahead with it. Should sound nice though, which is what really matters .

Can't you get sebring stuff at trade prices? Why not get the proper job, comes with hangers and everything, is stainless steel, so is much better all round... Think it was only 40 quid when I got mine, perfect fit...
