Spent all day on a rolling road setting up the car, and at the end of it, cos its playing up, it gave me less bhp than we had 2 years ago. Even though now we have full race cams and it hit 9100rpm, as against 7800 2 years ago on road cams. £600 quid it cost

But don't you know what the problem with it is?

Surely you should use a rolling road more for engine diagnostics and setup rather than for determining power?
Rolling roads are only accurate if they're calibrated - the only way to properly measure the engine's power would be to run it out of the car.

BHP is just bullshit

Yeah, I know. The car is set up well now, and is still pulling hard at 9100. Thing is, you start to get scared at that point and back off with caution.

Ignore all the readings. The blue line at 45 degrees is the power. The rpm at that point was 9100. Because the rolling road could not be set to agree with the engine rpm, all the figures are way out.

look at the Wheel power 2 years ago it was 88hp today it was 113hp that an increase of 25hp. however can you be sure the same load was applied each time. I take it you were mapping it

I didn't map it. That was done by SBD. Since the original set up, I've changed the standard box for a straight cut Quaiffe, that's why the drag's less

DEARY ME!

Kieth.....do you realise HOW INACCURATE those rollers @ Minispeed/BHP are mate? They are absolute POO!!

Go and run ur car a decent set of rollers, like Power Engineering in uxbridge and get a REAL readout.

Just to give u an idea.......my car......ran 118.5bhp and 174lb/torque @ Power Engineering.

A month later, with no mods to car, i got a free run on the same set of rollers u've done urs, and it gave me 102bhp, with 144lb/torque!

On the same day, a GTi 106 with induction and full zaust ran, and got 121bhp.

The whole day was a shambles......results were all over the place. The next time the same people went down there, they got totally different results!

Well now. This cheers me up. I did wonder how I could lose 35Nm of torque by adding 1 degree of ignition to it. They couldn't even get the rpm right.

Rolling road was £150+vat, for 3 hours. The expensive bit is SBD at £80+vat per hour, (4 1/2 hours)

I think it's mapped O.k. I just think the figures are shite. I know of a similar spec car, with slightly less don to it, that gets 185 brake. I also think I need a smaller exhaust cam, to get the power to peak earlier.
