After changing the head gasket on mine it's still pissing out blue/white smoke at idle, could be a number of things so this engine is gonna be scrapped.
Just found a 1.7TDi Isuzu engine that's just come in from Japan
25,000 miles or possibly km's, so it's only just run in
£700 tho plus crane hire to fit it tho
Think i will be spending part of my house deposit

whats the tuning potential for these engines TD experts?
A friend of mine is in the process of building an astra van work / demo-car and would probably be interested in any little tweaks.
sure i remember reading about 100bhp from the 1.5TD without an IC?

Kris is running 99bhp with just a bleed valve and fuel mods, with the plans he has he'll be looking at about 150bhp and 200+lb/ft torque
£20 to get it from 78hp standard to 99 so far and could probably go a bit more with the fuel turned up a bit

free Bhp !??
engine conversions cost money unless you can do labour youself, and since the van is to advertise a company im pretty sure all his ££ will be put into styling.
Would be nice to have a decent torque figure as well because he will be doing a lot of motorway miles

About 110-120hp with those mods
Kris reckons about 200hp from the 1700 lump, sounds about right imo with a bit more work and money

oh, but the 1.7 td in the astra van is not the same engine, do not do the tweek, they have a tendancy for the bottom ends to go bang. the gm 1.7 td is a load of crap, need the isuzu ones if your gonna do it.
