Picking mine up in a week hopefully.
Compared against the 320 Ci i was looking at, its gonna be cheaper to run, mod, insure and repair. Plus its quicker and for the money i'm spending i'd get a newer car.

the 2.0 Turbo looks quick, but ive just come from a Turbo (jabbasport tuned 1.8t Ibiza)..and i quite like revving a car, and the ecotecs seem to thrive on them. (my Corsa does)..Turbos are all about point and squirt, you have to drive them in a certain way to get the power(like a diesel).
other than that theres the 1.8sri Corsa c, but that has crap reviews! and they dont seem to hold their price much!
Astra Coupe, or the Hatch with the Irmscher kit on (again 2.2) looks good 4 the money..want to stay with Vauxhall, impressed with them after Seat!!

If u can find one, go for the SE2 varient.
Its a turbo spec, but with just a 1.8 However, saying that, i had a 2.2 SRi hire car, and the engine was poop.

yep..207bhp, but crap build quality. coil pack failure, skweaks and rattles, 18-22mpg, unpredictible handling and tossers at the main dealers.
too many glitches..i.e electrical things. shame really, as it was quick, comfortable and good looking.
and it was black..bitch too keep clean!!!

great car, great price. still 12.5kish. wouldnt spend over 11k. M8 had a type R..possibly the best hot hatch ive ever driven.
Corsa c 1.8sri goin 4 9k 1 year old. are they really that bad? people say theyre not quick..but they have 123bhp..surely they must be fairly quick.!
anyone on here got the 1.8? or the 100bhp 1.7 diesel?
might consider one over the Astra and save 2k..

true. some people like lazy driving, hence 8valvers, diesels and Turbos.
u have to work a CTR quite a lot to extract the power. some people dont like wringing them round to 8k..!

at last. a positive statement about the 1.8 engine.
they are quite rare too..most on this board have 1.2/1.4. What car mag reckons the 1.8 in the Astra is a "sweet and powerful performer". so in the Corsa the same but slightly quicker surely.
new Corsa gsi should be great. 180bhp..head 2 head dual with rs Fiesta (200bhp). at last, a corsa to match the power of Clio Sport and 206 Gti..!

yeah Alfas are beautiful, but read the reviews off the owners on Parkers, and u see a different story. Crap build and terrible dealers, plus costly repairs.
however the 147 is a cracking car to drive (drove a 2.0lusso)..plus the spider is still so much more stylish than an Mx5. (blokes shouldnt drive them unless they work in a salon..)
why no more vauxhalls?

The 1.8 Sri Corsa C uses a different gearbox than the 1.8 Astra. I've driven the 1,8 astra, and i was fairly impressed, but have heard the Corsa is shite after about 80Mph

Our Zafira GSi is just about past its running in miles so its time to find out what 200bhp in a people carrier feels like . Best Thing Ive been in was my mates TVR Grifith 500, 1000Kg and 340bhp from a 5ltr V8, What a noise! And aceleration to make your eyes water. A true drivers car.

yes the astra uses the gatarac gearbox. the new sri variants now also use the gatarac gearbox and so now the 1.8 is much better. u would not believe the difference in the 2.

I drive an 8v Turbo Diesel.............does that make me the laziest person alive?
very true tho, sit @ 40mph in 4th and it'll pull strong to 90mph, with passengers + luggage driving up hill. Good old torque. My bro has to rag his gti-6 to bits to get the power out of it.......lots of cog swapping. Thats just not my thing
