that looks like it should be ok mate. you want a mig welder and you will need to weld with gas to get a good weld.

you need to weld with gas mate its hard to weld without it never sticks. any small mig welder is fine mate.
you can always try other forms of welding when you get good at it

This reserve isnt met yet so it could be alot more. I'f you're gonna go MIG then you need gas-less unless you can get hold of argon. You're best bet is an arc welder, you can get them cheep and they're cheep to maintain, no moving parts etc. You'll only be able to use thin rods unless you get a good one but it still does a good job (aslong as you got skill ). I do welding on a course, well worth the time to learn.

no probs mate. a tip for when you dont weld you bonnet, boot etc dont continuously weld it, just tack it on and everytime you do a little weld put a wet cloth over it to cool it down or your bonnet will warp.

Also do it in a extracted area, as i ended up with metal fume poisoning which is fcuking horrible. and can cause neaumonia (sp?) so i hear.

yeah it feels like ive got loads of grit in my eyes .
on a serious note though you shouldnt get it. it burns the retina in the back of the eye and if you do it to much it seperates the retina and you could go blind

And If you're Mig-ing DONT wear a short sleve T-Shirt, You will get sun burn like you wouldn't believe. I learned the hard way, took nearly three week for my arm to stop peeling. I should be finishing my course about 5 week ahead of scedule so any welding I need doing I can take into College and use their setup . Next task is to learn how to weld Aluminium.
