Each colour has a number and im told orange is 1. Does anyone know the rest? It's the cable u plug into a network card on PC.

Got a network cable running between two rooms, instead of plugging it straight into the comps i am going to put a socket on each end then use another shorter cable from the socket to the computer in each room (to keep things tidy). Ive cut the plugs off both ends but the sockets i have just have numbers on the terminals inside

Hmm that was my origional idea (i was just going to use the plug i cut off) but u cant really see on the plugs and u cant see at all on the socket Think it might be time to go to my local computer shop tomorrow

Yeah shouldnt matter its its patch though, so long as the same combos at each end. But pc to pc is UTP so more tricky to make

They're both UTP.

Crossover is no more tricky, just needs some pins transposing.

Fiddly possibly, but not difficult!

I've got a little plastic tool to push the wires down into the terminals in the back of the socket.

+ u need crossover, as ur goin pc to pc, and if you dont do it right, 1 pc will be able to see the 1, but 1 will be gayed as fuck.
