Yes, speak to any motorsports and ask about the XE.

They are one of the best 2.0 16v engines ever built.

Yeah, its only taken 15-20 years.

Half Pint, nope, was just developed by cosworth. has nothing to do with the Ford Cosworth unit.

I admit though, not many engines could better it at the time. Just saying it's a different story now.

20xe is the engine of its time!

Obviously these days the likes of hondas V-Tec lump has more bhp and similar torque.... but that was not designed 15 years ago now was it

My 2.0 Corsa can taken VR6. Very close, but then mines only a 4 pot 2.0 16v, not a VR6 2.8/9!

Thats ok, iwasn't getting arsey

They were a fantastic engine, and still are really. Yeah a Celica may have like 190bhp, but the XE will still be right with it and in some cases ahead of it

Hondas S2000 engine is a work of art.

It is still special. Maybe not standard, but bang TB on em and theres not many 2.0 that will be anywhere near it.

Its also a very strong engine. Compare the 2.0 of 15 years ago, and compare it against todays engines. Ok S2000 is a special case as its a sports car, but against the Toyota 190 engine, clio 182 lump etc, neither will keep pace.

the way i see it, ive seen 20XE's in rally cross escorts, westfield/caterhams etc, Mini's, and load sof other different makes of car. If it werent a good engine, it wouldnt be in all those different type of cars .

Yeah thats the thing. XE is still being widly used in loads of different motorsports. Rallycross, Oval racing, BSCC, and these

Its just a very simple, very strong lump.

Put it in that Golf GTi shell and u got yourself a winner

How do you rate it against the 2.0 16v VW engine that was put in the mk3 GTi. Also 150bhp.
