Fianally got my almighty 12V engine in, and the fucker wont turn over

If the car is rolling, it wont go in to gear
If the car is at a stand still, it will go into gear, but wont move anywhere...... as if the brakes are on

The starter motor also sounds sluggish......

But, from what i can make out..... the engine is far too tight, as in its been sitting for too long without being used etc.... possibly starting to rust inside or sumhn.

Any ideas what i can do here????
Really pissed off.
At worse, i'll take it back out n take it back or get it replaced for nout, but its the fact that i dont get the days back

Raging

Well, the ecu which is being used at the moment is the one which i had with the previous engine.

I AM NOT using the ecu which came with the engine in at present.

Was told to do this by the guy from the scrappy.

if it won't move, just put a socket on the crank and turn it over if it turns over fine then it's a prop somewhere else.

Maybe, if its been sitting a while pull your plugs out, give it a kick in the guts and turn it over for a while without the compression (should turn over fairly easily if all is well) and this will lube the engine components up. I'd suggest this before towing it behind a car to at least get the components moving. If it doesnt turn over easily, then tow it....or as gibbs said socket on crank.

nup richie, it remains on

Well, from what i've been told, the gearbox may not be connected right, hence not letting it budge.

So, i am on a break at the moment from stripping it back down to try and fit the gearbox again, and also to break the seal on the clutch.

Stuey, i tried turning it over without the plugs, i.e. no compression, and it just wont start

Its firing fine etc, but as i said, the starter sounds sluggish when trying to get it started.

Dont fancy getting towed whilst trying to start it. Run into the back of it etc....

Cheers for the help all
Any other input????

You say it's firing fine, so is the engine actually turning over and just not starting?

or is it doing absolutely nothing when you turn try to start, ie pistons not moving but starter trying to turn it over and straining.

If you cant get it in gear then it sounds like a miss aligned gearbox. I'm assuming its not stuck in gear, which makes it strang that the engine still cannot turn over.
