I am 16 and in the process of modifying my 1.4 corsa.

I keep hearing rumours that the driving age is going up to 18, is this true......

As much feedback as possible would be great.

I am really quite worried, They have been saying it for years and nothing has gone through I THOUGHT......!!

It has been sugested in the past that the minimum driving age should be put up to 18, although there has also been debate as to wether to bring the age down to 16 to be in keeping with european laws. i know this because i shat myself when i herd the same roumers a few months ago.
Doubt any of this will happen though mate, and certainly not before youre old enough to drive.

I had all this crap about raising the driving age even before I started learning, and that was about three years ago now...

Don't worry about that mate.

what are the mods?
but if it was standard 1.4, i recon about 2k. The cheapest insurance i could get for my T reg 1.2 @ 17 (and i spent about 3 days solid looking) was 1500 quid and that was standard, pkus i live in the sticks too. So yea about 1800 quid standard, with mods (depends) i would say between 2 - 4k mate.

That is what my brother said, He was worried about it and that was three years ago.

What about insuring me as a 2nd driver and my dad being the main driver.
He says he has 65% no claims bonus as well.

supprisingly, my insurance brocher got twitchy about me havin a cat 1 alarm. their assumption was that i would have no reason to require a cat 1 alarm on a standard car, and that i actually had a madly modded car that i wasnt declaring.
jus reckon you should be careful how readily u use the term cat 1!

What model is it? You probably have the SPI engine, so not as bad as insuring an SRi/Sport

Im on my laa's insurance and its about 400 fully comp etc Cheap and shite that mate, but i recon it will cost about 500-800 quid, cant see it being more than that mate Although, it also depends how old your dad is? I mean if he's 50 odd, he isnt gonna be driving around in a modded corsa is he? so i think alot of insurers will pick up on that mate
Then again mate, you should have done all of this before you started modding you car, because you could end up with a nice car just sitting on the drive

Exactly - I was thinking that, the guy only said it was a 1.4 - not a 1.4 16v... 1.4 8v SPI = pretty slow... = cheap to insure. (well no insurance is cheap for 17 )
