if u got electrics in ur doors, use a constant live from them, i.e mirrors, windows etc.Then u need to get a wire that only comes live with the ignition on and wire the other wire to that.It wont blow the led, it just stops it workin when the ignition is on.I'm in the process of doing this myself but have no electrics in the doors and running wire into the cabin from the doors is a nightmare!
