I missed the launch show on Saturday at my local dealer. Though I did see a new Astra on the back of a lorry going into the Police Armoury last week. Sporty looking one in blue.

GoldPenguin: 3 door isn't due till the end of the year at earliest.

I will consider getting a 3 door, i do like the 5 door but i'm not buying one when the 3 door is due to be released.

I wonder what modding them will be like, they have some new modern suspension gismo's, i plan on modding it if i get one

I've just seen an advert with the new astra being paraded around on it! looks like the new golf tho it has to be said, nice lookin motor tho!

the new astra is absolutely phenomenal. on saturday we had people literally queing outside our dealership for testdrives. we have 6 demos of the astra h with 3 bein 1.8sri's. in all fairness the interior is stock vauxhall, with only the sri having the finishing touches. however the drive CAN be compared to the like of the BMW 330 models and in my honest opinion it feels more sturdy and roadworthy than the golf. im biased yes, but it really is amazing. you can change gear and let the clutch out as fast as u can and i doesnt jerk. and the electronic sports mode which alters the suspension is the absolute mutts nuts

this for vauxhall is the most important model they have ever released. the preparation we have been doing at work has been 12months in the making. vauxhall have really thought about this car, and it will be a big seller.ford focus top spot? me thinks not

Am i the only one who thinks it looks ugly? Admittedly some of the styling looks nice but its looks awful with 5 doors. Hopefully the 3 door version will look better. Much prefer the last astra. Especially the coupe that looks sweet!

first time i saw it i thought it was ugly as sin. but everytime i see it it seems to look better and better.

mkIII is still the ultimate astra tho
