ive heard so many different figures about the corsa B Gsi power and 0-60 times yet im still not sure wat they are???

considering it is completly standard with the spare tyre in the boot and just the driver...

1) 0-60 ive heard its from...8.0, 8.7, 9.0, 9.5, 10.5??? which one is it?
2) BHP.... 110, 109, 107???
3) torque...108, 110???

mine has full cat back zorst and viper induction kit with good quality leads and plugs and no heavy ice or spear tyre...so roughly what figures am i looking at...

4) 0-60?
5) BHP?
6) torque?

ive had it 2years and thought i should really know these figures now

its a 1994 "L" reg corsa B Gsi 1.6 16v C16xe with 80k miles!

so these figures are from autocar for a standard Gsi, how reliable and accurate are they?

8.7sec for 0-60 for a standard 1.6 is not bad

what figures u reckon my car is running with its mods so far?

cheers for info mate

right lets clear a few things up. the 148bhp seen was in fact nearer 155, and was from the C16XE engine during rigorous testing with vauxhall.it was reduced so not t overshadow the C20XE powering the Astra GTE, Calibra 16v, cav GSi2000. was the C16 designated as Ecotec-4?? I thought that was X16?? Anyway, those figures are wrong in that article, because the C16 engine is 109bhp at 6000rpm and about 107lb/ft torque at 3500rpm. Top speed is also 121 mph, and thats definate.

So to answer your question monkey,

C16XE
0-60 - 8.7 seconds
BHP - 109
Torque lb/ft - 107@3500rpm

X16XE

0-60 - 9.1 (although i managed an average of 8.7 in my standard Sport 1.6)

BHP - 106
torque lb/ft - 104 @4000rpm

I'm fairly sure that they'd have tested that figure themselves, 109bhp was the Vauxhall book figure, its not beyond possibility that the road they used showed 107.

why you laughing cybermonkey look at the honda vti with 160bhp it has same torque as the c16xe/x16xe roughly within 1 or 2 ibf.ft

i love it when people start arguing just face it none of us know the truth, an if u bothered to read networkq's instant update by email from pccuk.net you will no that the reason vauxhall restricted the engines was so it did not out perform the sporty astra on sale at the SAME time as the corsa gsi/sport bein the mk 3/4 not 1/2 gte's etc from 80's

and the other thing that small paragraph is stating is that with all the power on testing the torque was not good enough this is all point was so i was just saying to anyone tuning a 1.6 dont expect miracles and you may sacrifice economy an torque with tuning

corsa120, i believe that i said cavalierGSi as well as calibra16v, and they were both on sale in 1993?!? Yeah, i forgot mk3GSi, and the mk4gsi did not even get the C20XE engine so i can all i want. Simple fact of the matter is, a lowCC N/A 4pot engine is not going to have amazing torque figures, but the peak power figure is justified with good on-road drivability. over 200bhp is possible from this engine with a 9k rev limit, with money of course, and end up with the same amount of torque as a 2.0VTEC from honda, and thats reliable too, with regular maintainance. pccuk blah blah, dont know what you are going on about really, dont know what a networkQ instant update is?? care to enlighten me oh wonderous one??

Actually your both wrong

C16XE engien was toned down from 150bhp to 109 due to the drivability of the car. Its made for everyone and not hotheaded drivers so the power band wasn't right for the road. Also the fuel consumption was a lot higher with teh 150bhp unit so different cams and the 1.2 metre inlet manifold system was devised to lower emissions, increase drivability and give better fuel consumption.

As for PCCUK Such a good club it was banned from its national event location due to "neds in novas" ruining it. I wouldn't believe everything you hear from them (Same as total vauxhall mag).
