A guy I work with (he's about 30 I think), and has a done up rover. 
Anyway, someone had told me it was pretty quick and so I said to him 'what have you done to it?' - I said 'Has it still got a K Series Rover engine in it?'
He said - nope it has a cosworth engine in it?  this possible?
What sort of BHP do cossie's run normally? as this guy said that it was 540 bhp without nos, and more with nos...  
At this point I was thinking 'yeh sure mate'...
Also, arn't cossie engine's turbo'd as I asked him what boost he was running and he said he didn't have a turbo - it was completely N/A. 
So I asked him if he's gone down the 1/4 mile to which he said he had and told me some really low time. I said 'ok then, so what was the traction like?' he was like 'pretty good'... I'm thinking, FWD - 540 bhp (or more with nos) = wheel spin. So I said 'you got a LSD?' - nope...
My mate asked to see his engine and he said he couldn't as it was 'top secret'
This guy works at legoland windsor...  but is a partner in a garage that does services and stuff...
Is he talking arse or what? I didn't want to be rude and doubt anything infront of him, but it all just sounded like he was talking crap at the time.

cossie 220 standard - takes quite a bit to get up to 540, including hybrid
no chance with a N/A

Thank you drew - I also thought this. But he seemed like a nice enough guy and seeing as I worked with him I didn't want to just laugh in his face. Next time I'll see him, I'll ask him to confirm the power etc he told me last time and I'll just tell him what I think and if he still insists he's telling the truth he'll have to show me this 'top secret' engine...

Could be normally aspirated if it were the Scorpio 2.3 unit, but this was only ever mated to RWD box!

but N/A and those sort of power gains?
I reckon he just has a tuned k-series engine or something - that's just quite quick ... if you had a rover tuned that highly that cost a lot to make, would you really drive to work everyday and leave it in the staff car park?

Yes, this bloke at work knows about 300 people with modded cars. His mate had a Nova which he spent £30k on And his other mate put a 12 litre V8 in his Lada, apparently he used to have that engine in his Metro too...

I was pretty sure he was bullshitting - but since I'm not an expert on cossies, I needed to just get a 2nd opinion before I tell him he's talking out his arse.
The thing is, the guy is like 30ish - so it's not like some 17 year old kid just saying his nova can beat a ferrari - but also when he was telling me about it, he had a completely serious face and didn't seem to be lying at all...
