its a good little car, and its the fastest corsa vauxhall have, because the GSi is still up in the air at the moment, probably going to be incorporated into the Corsa D. Anyways, the 1.8 is a nice machine, 1.8 unit is revvy and a few companies are taking notice of its potential. Throttle Bodies or inlet manifolds are a good idea (if there are any available yet) and couple that with some irmscher styling bits straight from th dealer and you will have a sweet machine, just pick a good colour!

Why is that crap exactly? You have a relatively small car with a disproportionate amount of engine torque/BHP. Power to weight ratio. It has a 0-60 time faster than the entire Golf GTI/V5/V6 range bar the R32. 8 bloody seconds as standard! It comes bristling with standard equipment ( Cruise Control, ABS, Air Con etc ) and are comparatively, quite rare. Superb tuning/modifying potential. I've never regretted buying one.

there wont be a corsa c gsi. its been saved for the corsa d due late 2005. the newer 1.8 with the new gatarac gearbox are purely phenomenal. like some peeps said before, there is massive tuning potential with this engine. you'll know if it has the new box if it is 5stud on wheels

oh and i dont want to go on and on, but if people can get 212bhp from a vauxhall 1.6, then 160 from a 1.8 aint that special

I'm happy with mine it is a great little car and I mean come on it's quicker than most golfs, focus etc...

blah blah 1.8 engines come in all various BHP sizes as someone else has said a 1.6 can be tuned to 200+ bhp...doesn't mean the SRI engine can't be tinkered with.

The 1.8 Sri is 12500 unless you get a discount somewhere. Some pointless comments in this thread....

The engines in the Rover and Honda are cleaner and still fuel efficient, something important on std cars to meet legislation. The Corsa 1.8 if you tuned it would not only cost you money but also represent even worse value seeing as its supposed to be a performance car and the Clio 182 and similar aren't much more expensive.

dinosaur but why not go the whole hog and liken it to other 2.0 l models. Your still talking 4-5K difference. Other models in the Golf range and Focus are much more expensive. It isn't bad value for what you get.

Yeah, I spose you do get lots of kit, like cruise and climate control and the 5 stud wheels now which is a decent thing. Probably the car is marketed as qulaity and spec over outright performance.

and remember, this isnt really the range topping corsa, since its only an sri. The gsi will probably be incarnated into the corsa D, which will in fact be called a corsa VXR or something, meaning the name GSi will be dropped But the GSi that was planned for the C looked damn good on paper, 1.6 turbo with around 170bhp. Not too shabby
