Right then,
Ive got me a corsa C 1.2 sxi and someone has given me a cav 2litre 8v which im going to re-build the engine and have a turbo conversion done on it. Im going to keep the F16 box aswell, but what drive shafts will i need??.
The one on the corsa already or the cav ones or some made up???. Also where can I get the engine mounts from??.
cheers

dnt think you will get the cavvy enigne into your corsa c mate
summat to do with ecu etc.....and also thiknk theres an issue with the ignition.....you would have to get one of the newer 2litre engine if you wanted to do a conversion into your corsa c.....

I also dont see the point of putting a very old engine into a new car...get a newer engine as said...

u can stick an older engine in a corsa c as there are turbo'd corsa C's. more work involved due to electronic speedo, P/S etc.

no work involved with the speedo m8 as its picked up from the lefthand front wheel and is seperrate from the engine ecu, so is the PAS. Also my point is i already have the complete cavalier with engine and box, with i was given for FREE so why do i want to spend more money on another engine when im already spending money on a turbo conversion!!!.

i will keep you posted as i am going to do one soon
and i also know a kid who has a 2lt turbo corsa C who did it himself who i am going seeing this weekend some time.
i think the 2 ECU's are cos one controls the car and one controls the engine

not entirely true. on later c's with abs and early systems, they have a wheel speed on each wheel. u will need to run 2 ecus one for engine and one for car. it does cost mega bucks to do this conversion as a separate engine/body loom has to be made due to the Can-Bus System on the corsa c. imo, not worth the hassle

Do u mean the multi-timer ecu that controls the car electrics and the bosch m1.5.5 controls the engine??.
If this is so, are u saying that they communicate with easy other in a digital form and not in the normal way??.

what i thought probly be cheaper to tune the 1.8 than pissing around with a older engine
only conversion viable would be the turbo i guess

Well ive got the wiring diagrams for the engine ecu and as far as i can tell all the sensors and everything else is going into the engine ecu (M1.5.5). Also it takes a signal from the lefthand speed sensor, the right hand sensor is only fitted to cars with the easytronic gearbox. As far as i can tell and been told by other people is, if i use the cav ecu and wireing loom the engine will run. But the wiring for the engine cooling fan has to be re-wired because thats controled by the (M1.5.5) and so is the dash coolant temp gauge, also i think the rev counter maybe a problem.
