..to make a complete copy of your hard disk onto a bootable cd so if anything fucks up you can load everything back on as it were (kinda like a recovery disk but it'll have all my music etc in there aswell)??

no a cd isnt big enuff

you could get a 2nd hard disk and copy it all over

its 30gb and i didn't realise i had 15gb of data on so would need a fair few cds. oh well thats that plan buggered then.

u can get a seond hand 20gb hard drive of ebay well cheep mate, jut buy that, format it, then do a back up, easy

Norton Ghost can create an image of your hard disk. If you have a large hard disk, it is going to take a lot of CD's though. Or you could use DVD's - still going to take a few though.

Yeah was gonna suggest this, you can create an image of ur hard drive, there's programs to do this easily

Norton Ghost is one, and the people who make Partition Magic have one too.

Search on download.com for a Hard Drive image program (or something like that)

why don't u backup ur files manually, ie burn folders as they are.

don;t see the point in getting another program ie ghost to do the same job.

It compresses them so you can fit more onto one CD. If you got 40 gig or so it'd save a ton of CD's

fair point.
but most files are already pretty much compressed, eg mp3, jpegs ect..

yeah, dunno how it does it, but know it works pretty good, used to use it where i worked before, saved installing windows, and office etc..etc.. every time we did a new machine, just copied the image across.
