If you have never riden a bike before I would'nt just go and jump on a RS125 else you'll put yourself 6 foot under.

Indeed. I took my mates out and was doing an indicated 115mph after about 2 mins of getting used to it

I'm getting a bike (hopfully) this summer and the best bike to start on IMO is the 400cc bikes like the ZXR, CBR babyblade, RVF( this is the one i'd like), GSXR, there all good fast bikes with 1/4 mile times in the low to high 13's, as for tests the direct access is needed for these bikes and will cost you from £280 - £300 depending on what company you go for.

Rs 125 unrestricted will do 0-60 in 6.8 secs and is good for about 110-115 mph... but its the acceleration thats its all about....
Then once your confident from riding the RS 125 maybe move up to a 400 or 600 cc...

I personally think that the 125's are shit, my mate has the aprilla 125 de-restricted and is used to the power of it already (only hads it for 2 months) also they smoke like fuk when booted and sound very tinny.

you are 24, this guy we're talking about is 18 you knobber.
It's like saying 'Don't get a 1.4 16v, you'll get used to the power soon - get a 2.0 Turbo'...
This guy has never ridden a bike before and is only 18, so I reckon get a aprilia 125 - very nippy and handles brilliantly coz of its light weight, then when he turns 19 and has more confidence consider getting a bigger bike (400 - 600)

You cannot drive a bike with a bigger engine than 250cc at 18 anyway. Plus, a motorbike is not a car, you shouldn't just get on the biggest one you can get insured on Unless you want to die a horrible death, you do actually have to know what you are doing!
An RS125 is the ideal bike to learn on, they are quick when you buy them, then when you derestrict them, and put a performance exhaust on them you got yourself a respectable bike to drive with oyour full licence, untill you can get a 250 or 600

vfr400 (nc30) are quite good bikes but you would have to have it restricted to 33bhp(i think) because you have to be 21 to do direct access to get a bigger bike
i would get a 125 till you are 21 then sit the full bike licence, that way you would of earned some no claims bonus and some bike experience
my old nsr125rr was good for 120 after some engine mods and not much cars could catch it off the lights
