I've found some really nice looking 16s for my GSi, but they are only a et40 offset!
I know the usual crack with trying to stick to as near to 49 as possible, but I also know that over the years Vauxhall are slowly reducing the offset of the wheels specced on their cars.
Has anyone tried a 16" alloy on their motor with an et40? Any scrubbage/ work need on rear arches? Will I just need to remove the arch moulding clips or is more work needed?
Honest answers appreciated!
P.S. - I will be running 195/45 tyres and may possibly lower my GSi 35mm in the future.

I had ET40 7x16 with 195/45 on mine and yes, they needed some proper work!

i had et38 and rubbed like fuck on every bump (-60mm) so changed them to et 45

I'm sure they are only a 6x16 or a 6.5x16 at the most. What do you recon?

with wheels being 6.5 wide i thought the half inch was lost on inside of wheel near susp?
or does it effect how far wheel sticks out against arch too?

Checked today, the 16s I'm after are a 6x16. What d'ya recon? Anyone tried this combination? I NEED to know if I'm going to need to mod my arches!

thats fine mate i can almost 100 % say u wont have ne trouble with them if u drop it mega low talking 60mm n lower then id advise to take the bolts out of front n rear n bond arches on other than that rekcon u will be fine.

depends wat wheels they are, i have et40 16's but they are only 6" wide
i got the corsa c sri 5 spoke ones btw

oh, the fronts dont scub ever, never done any arch work there, at the back i have glued the arcs on, cut some metal up and put longer bumpstops in, never rubs even with a full car, but i dont think all that is necessary as i had to do that when i had 17's.

oh, lowered 60mm too. dont think you will have a problem, just debolt the archs.
