Right, I got the eibach prokit springs and pro dampers put on, it really is a huge
improvement on the factory setup. I'd like to tighten up the front end a little
more. At the moment I've still got the factory 13" steel wheels on.

So what will give me the most bang for buck to tighten up the front end?
Strut brace or alloys/low profile tyres?

I should probably add I don't give a shit what it looks like in fact the closer it looks
to factory model the better coz then it's STEALTHED all I'm interested in is
how well it corners. Any suggestions on how to improve handling now it's got the
eibachs or is that as far as I can go with a corsa?

alloys i would say as it will give more grip than the skinny tyre on the steels. also the lower the profile tyre the less flex there is in the sidewall meaning a tighter ride.

Anti-Roll bars off of the GSI?

You may struggle to get a strut brace on a 1.2 (if thats what it is) as the inlet manifold thingy sits in the way.

BTW, I've done 230 miles today running in my new eibach suspension,
all I can say is it's really fucking excellent. Bloody expensive though.
But the performance is superb, really transforms the car.

Hi Mav, want to say thanks to you for helping me decide on these eibachs
on here last week, they're BLOODY GOOD just like you said!

My engine's even smaller than that - a 1.0. I've got manual steering
(non-powered), with the new suspension it's lovely and light, amazingly
light when parking the car (feels like powered, it's so light), actually I think
that's an advantage of the 1.0 the engine doesn't weigh much although of
course it'll never win in a straight line, but the car feels composed and
well balanced round the bends, if I put a bigger engine in it'll have more
power but will it be front heavy and dive a bit?

Cornering on mine could still be a little bit tighter but probably I'm being
unrealistic, can't really expect it to feel like an elise can I after all still got
the corsa chassis. Although clearly wider/lower profile tyres and lighter
wheels would help a bit. At the moment it's on the good ole "balloon" specials.

Yeah, I noticed a couple of firms like sparco only seem to do strut braces
for 1.4 and up, but I heard Regal have them for the 1.0/1.2.

So you reckon find a gsi in a scrappy and get the anti-roll bar? Interesting
idea, probably hard to find though.

Oh, and my average fuel consumption over those 230 miles was
57 MPG so that 1.0 engine is good in one respect - the wad factor!

Thanks for the thanks lol - don't often get replies like that on here - much appreciated.

Heres my Corsa on 13" and lowered on the Eibach setup:

If you get alloys the lower profile tyres will improve handling even more, but due to the reduction in rubber the ride will be even harder than it is now.

Id reccommend alloys even if its just for better tyres - wider too which helps grip.

I like the idea of the stealth car - especially with it being a 1.0. An engine conversion would add weight but the performance would make this unimportant. I'd get used to the suspension as it is now - maybe wheels - let it settle in and get used to it to the point where you are used to it and can't remember how it felt before. Then, if you wish to do something else do it then.

Waiting like this also means you get the most out of each mod you do - especially when its pricey - but you do pay for what you get

I'll take your advice. May try an uprated arb first coz fairly cheap.
The advantage of the stealth idea is you don't draw unwanted attention.
If I put a 2l in I won't be able to hide the sound, though!

Right quick question I've noticed a couple of times going over bumps
the rear axle bangs up against the exhaust, what's the best way to
fix this? I saw someone else on here said replace the hanger rubbers
with fiesta ones is that the best fix or can u recommend anything else?

alloys or any wheels but 195 or over tyres a must!

even on standard suspension setup they would improve the handling amazingly

i think standard 13" steely's only have 145/70's well thats wot mine had.

195/40/16 's would be my choice cos u get the looks thrown in.

but others may disagre 195/50/15 might be alright but i just think that 15's dont look that great.

the standard rubber hangers are soft as sh!te,get some uprated ones which should stop the movement. i couldn't believe how soft the ones were on mine the exhaust was bouncing all over. my jetex came with some strong hangers, now the exhaust barely moves.

Thanks the tyres I've got are 165/70 so 195's would be lots better of
course I've blown my wad on the suspension so will have to save
up for some wheels as far as I can see looking around it's going to
cost around 500 odd for decent wheels and tyres so will have to wait a bit.
I reckon better to buy a small number of good quality mods even if more
expensive than to shell out on lots of cheap mods and end up with something
not very good.

I guess you're right though messing around with arb etc probably won't
make a lot of difference while I've still got the old wheels on, there's
just not enuf grip and too much sidewall flex, I could feel it at limit
cornering on test run yesterday and that's on bone dry roads! I was just
thinking of something I could do fairly cheaply without having to shell out
another half grand.

I'll try to find some uprated hanger rubbers yeah these ones are really
soft I've just been looking at them, they're the orig ones with the car
so nearly 5 years old I think they've stretched a bit! I don't know if
it's bumping just coz the axle is moving up or if it's the zorst boucing downwards as well, still should be fairly cheap to try some new rubbers,
any ideas who might sell 'em?
