Been thinking about this for a while. On a bottle of alcohol it might say its 40%. But then on the bottle it might also say 105% proof. What does this mean? Thanks

proof is the american measurement, its double the % i think.

yeah its double the % by volume. Somone told me the reason behind it, but i dont remember! Stongest ive had was 175% proof rum.

strongest stuff i've eva seen and drunk is this spirit called STROH or STROHL can't remember which, but they sell it in austria. 80% british standards and therefore 160% proof. Tasted absolutely rank. It honestly burnt ur mouth drinking it.
