Based on that game alone, my vote's with Cole......he had a blinder keeping Ronaldo under control, every time CR got the ball, there was Cole putting pressure on him and winning the ball 75% of the time, if not more!

rooney without a doubt... he was young, very enegentic, constantly on the ball, running into space and taking quality, on target shots!!!

He reminded me of micheal owen a few years ago- only better.

don't think Beckham has been a good captain at all.. is never very vocal.. but hasnt even led by example.

Think Cole played well against Portugal, but best player overall has def been Rooney.. think they shud have won it just cuz he deserved it to be honest.. very unlucky today.

Lampard has done well i think scored 3 goals and passed very very well, but rooney is the main star from the tournmanent... that showed tonight playing crap straight after he went off !

Cole was superb tonight stopping Ronaldo, very impressed with him tonight !

rooney's had a gd tournament but tonite the player that stood out for me was Cole, when we was just all laying back Cole was the only one to win the ball back, not only once but on a few occasions

so.. Rooney for the best england player of tournament and Cole for the best player of Portugirls V In-ger-land
