I wired up my boot pop about 6 months ago, and i've gone thru 3 of the crappy maplin 2-wire solenoids, i now want something with a bit of build quality lol!
Any1 knows any good sites?
But i can't understand why I'm blowing the solenoids, running off a 12v constant and fused at 10amp... stupid thing!
oh and secondly, any1 used capacitors to make the solenoid stay +ve for like 5 seconds so it gives you time to get out and open it?
cheers lads!!

clifford ones are the best, pay for what u get, wouldnt touch anything else
the longer its turned on, the more power it pulls and the more it wears out
for my boot ive said it time and time again, central locking motor works best as it popps up and dont fall back down, but no1 listens lol

dont u need a push soliniod or central locking motor as the boot relese is push and the clifford pull.! i use the clifford ones on my doors and they are very strong.

didn't think that holding it down would burn out the motor, but thinking about it... it makes sense!
scoob where did you buy your spring from? think i'll go out today and buy a new maplins solenoid and find and attach a spring....
am i right in thinking a bit arse spring, bit washer and a screw should work?

i'm using the rear wiper wiring, however disconnected it from the stalk cause i didn't fancy accidently hitting it doing 85 down the motorway!
I'm going to b+q in a min and i'll try and find a nice little spring, and I'll also pickup another solenoid from maplins! hopefully it should all work lol! :S :S
