IS anyone here running a desktop or laptop on 256 DDR RAM?
I'm looking at getting a faster laptop as mine is poo but the ones i have seen in my price range seem to only have 256 DDR RAM. I'm just wondering how well it would run with Windows XP Home Ed.
At the mo i'm running a desktop AMD Athlon 2000 XP with 512 266 DDR RAM which runs great but my laptop is a P3 1 gig with 256 PC-133 RAM which runs a little shite so i don't really use it. It also shares the RAM for graphics which is slow too

Xp will run fine wit that, I've got 1gb of 2700 DDR but that's for games etc
You can't use DDR in a PC that currently has PC-133

Well i will be using my laptop just to browse the Internet -- i.e. CS and eBay. Also to check my e-mail and MSN. I gonna use my Desktop then for uni work. I'm just fed up now of spending most of my time in the bedroom on the Desktop!

It has a few probs now though. It won't read CDs but will read DVDs and makes a noise when charging. Think the motherboard is fecked in it

My Laptop is an old Duron 1.1 with 256mb, that's fine with Windows XP.
IF you turn the fancy options off, it's even better (That stupid Fisher-Price-look skin, for one).
Laptops will always be slower than the equivalent desktop.
