Hey? Better description would be good. But it sounds like there is no fluid or air bubbles, cos fade happens when they get hot?

were you they guy saying gsi brakes are ok for braking an xe? if you aren't running 2.0 16v brakes then it's time for an upgrade.
sounds like brake fade, does it happen after some heavy braking.

No im sure he means that the pedal is going soft which isnt brake fade. It will be one of two things...
1. Servo vaucume is not sealed properly
2. More chance the master cylinder seals have had it, did it just start happening or was it after you bled the brakes as you have to be very carefull when bleeding that you dont knacker them...

no the seals help to stem the flow of fluid in and out of the master cylinder so that pressure builds up inside it when the pedel is pressed thus causing the brakes to activate.
However if the seals inside have perished then so have their powers of producing a pressurised environment and therefore the sudden loss of ur brakes.
when u fitted the engine was the master cylinder devoid of brake fluid??? if it was then the seals will have almost certainly dried out which is ultra ultra bad for mastercylinders as ur never supposed to leave them without brakefluid in them!

ok check the calipers are the right way up.
then it could be fade as they arent up to the job mebbe get 2ltr ate brakes
or buy a brand new master cylinder there not that expensive.
this is your brakes your talking about and skimping on cost will only get you killed
also check if your loosing fliud anywhere etc

sounds like air in the system or a leak rather than the cylinder going to me.
If it was OK up until it was stood for 3 weeks then it went like this i would say personally a leak?
Have you checked the rear wheel cylinders inside the rear drums?

Mine did that once, after the mechanic fitted a new rear sub-frame to my car... So the brakes must have been bled e.t.c... I just pumped them up again and it hasn't happened since.
