got a lil prob wit my comp sure one of you guys can fix

got 2 pcs connect via crossover had them both running on the internet via ICS. had it runnin about 2 days and suddenly stops working. both pcs have link lights but cant ping either pc cant search for them or nuttin help plzzzzzzzzzzzzz

got my router yesterday, took a few hours 2 set up coz was havin problems with XP. works fine now, been playin Call of duty via LAN, tis cool

click on the advanced tab on the top right corner then it will be 2nd from the right on the 2nd lot of tabs

that was the network i set up yest in me room, bit of a mess tho

managed 2 get call of duty runnin on it, notice the pings:

first things first mate, disconnect your net access (ie: cable modem, or ADSL modem etc) and shut down any firewalls (especially XP). Then try and ping each computer. If it works, then you probably need to set something up on your firewall to allow for incoming connections or sometihng.

If that fails, do both NICs in the computers come up as enabled? if so, then both systems see each other, but apart from changing your proxy (www.analogx.com have a really decent and simple one, which i use) then ive run out of ideas.
If both NICs say disabled, then i would check your crossover cable mate, by buzzing it out with a DVM (get a crossover diagram, so you know which pins match to each connector).

p.s - as for routers/switches, well they are good idea if your systems are miles apart or if theres a really need to access the net from the secondary system, but i wouldnt go out to buy one mate, no really need. A simple proxy will do all the work and will cost a 10th of that of a router or wireless package etc
