please tell me your not gonna get a gsi and take the kit off it, your mad, the GSI kit is the best most expensive kit you can buy, the front bumper is about £700 with fogs grill spliter etc, get a SRI
SRI will do a 110ish but if ya kitting it up ya looking at less, and a great loss in acceleration, a GSI will do 121 in standard trim, dont expect great performance your used to french cars and they weight fuck all so are quick

If you gonna fully kit it up then DONT BUY THE GSI as there mint in standard trim, your best bet would be the sri, as for performance the sri's are 1.4 8v - 1.4 16v where as the GSI's are 1.6 16v.

1.2 corsa C is a good engine but isnt an exciting engine... none of the c's are, even the 1.8... ive got a 1.0 an driven them all...
My favourite by far still the gsi for the feel of it... but a gsi should be left in as near as standard form as you can get, they lovely like that...

my GSi is still going strong at 114K miles. Clutch lasted 110K miles as did the water pump. Still on original front wheel bearings, both rears replaced at about 95K miles.
Mine does an indicated 125mph @ 6500rpm in 5th.

1.4 16V SRi, 1.4 16v Sport, 1.6 16v GSi, 1.6 16v Sport... get one of those, but if ya getta GSi leave the trim as it is
but hard to find a mint GSi, so if ya wanna 1.6, get the 1.6 sport... but the 1.4 16v SRi is pretty much the same as the 1.4 16v Sport except the Sport will be slightly newer.

not many decent GSi's left now either!!!
most are fcuked, high milleage, damaged etc
you may just have to deal with the newer 1.6 16v sport model

If your Saxo has done 15k then its my guess that you want something comparable - so a GSi/SRi is out, newest you'll possibly find is 95/96 so not with those miles.
Next best choice is 1.4 or 1.6 Sport make you choice based on which you can insure, finding a nice one is not difficult.

How hard would it be to get a boloxed GSI but with good kit and use it to make a last of the line 1.6 into a GSI with all the new style badges ect. Use the GSI kit and wheels. It would look great in Arden Blue like the modern GSI's.
You'd have a GSI with low milage and no worries of rust or anything. Would be a cool project.
Jsut found a good GSi on autotrader:
1994 M Reg VAUXHALL Corsa GSi
3 Doors, 88,000 miles, Red. Alloy Wheels, C.D Player, Full Service History, Immobilizer, Power-Assisted Steering. Side Skirts. WAS..£3.295....NOW... £2,495.
Or as a donor vehicle:
1993 VAUXHALL CORSA 1.6 GSI, 1993,
L reg. 95000 miles, flame red, electric windows, electric mirrors, CAT 2 immobiliser, alloys, sports interior, stainless steal exhaust, 8 mths MoT, 3 mths Tax, mint condition. £1,500.
Plus:
1999, T reg. ELectric metallic blue, 3 spoke alloys, rear spoiler, aircon, 38,000 miles, full T&T, FSH, good condition. £2,695 . ono. no canvassers.
Thats £4195 for enough kit to make a dam good T Reg GSi.

greasemonkey. was reading total vauxhall guide to modifying 1.4 /1.6 xe 16v and it says that the block is best left untouched, so with your spare engine you shouldnt bore it out.

Marco, you wouldn't need an entire donor car, 1.6 Sport with a GSi kit on should be achievable for less than that.
