My mam and da recently decided they want to move, and last night came up with the idea of building our own house.
Has anyone ever done this, if so how longish does it take to builld before its liveable.
If ours sells and this is what they do then we'd have to move into rented accomodation

The period of renting will eat up any savings that you make. You get a nice house but its fairly difficult!

Theyve got about a £140k mortgage on this one its tripled in value - £450k and its going to cost £250k ish - say £300k to build.
Savings etc and rest will go on rent and my mams retail therapy - stressful stuff

Buy a cheap caravan and live on site......it could take quite a while and can get quite frustrating with building control / builders and whatnot fucking everything up. Still lots of money to be saved.....I know a guy (a builder) that built himself a house, done most the work himself, moved in then sold it almost straight away and made around 200k selling it.

Yep. My next door neighbour is related to the woman who owns the shop, whos mother owns the pub, whos cousin works in the club, and her son works in the italians, and he lives next door to his aunt.

Some mug has there house up for sale near me for £750k and another for £1.2m. the £750kj ones not as big and doesnt have as much land. someone will have there eyes taken out!
