I missed a gearchange on a dual carriage way, and instead of going down to 3rd from 4th i hit first, the revs went right back round to 0 rpm and the car cut out dead, so i rolled to a halt, then fired up it ran lumpy as hell, but once it cleared its throat it drove fine and has been since

is it ok, or is it gunna explode... its a c14se btw

Yes but a rev limiter will do nothing if you bring the clutch up in first at like 50mph!

The rev limiter limits the fuel as u get to the limit to prevent engine damage. If your already above it just shuts the engine down as it senses it as an error.

Try it in ur micra, u'll find it do the same. Or blow up.

Might be worth checking the timing on the cambelt, may have thrown it a little, I'd say lucky escape, fingers crossed for you.

I threw our courtesy van into first purpously at 60 and lifted clutch. Didnt go back, was quite miffed! Just locked up wheels then went round to 7000 revs!
That was in my younger years tho

I have found 3rd instead of 5th before when starting from 4th at 6,500rpm, with a C14SE, revved past 7K and slammed the clutch in, didnt seem to do and damage, that was about 10K ago, the induction kit makes a lovely note at 7,000rpm tho, wish it would go there without the valves bouncing!lol
