Corsa Gsi running 145ish BHP from zorst, induction kit, inlet manifold, increased rev from uni-chip, redline at 7000k!
VS
civic vti/vtec, N reg shape with zorst induction kit running 160ish BHP
my mates thinking of getting a civic vti/vetec and im just wondering how it will do against me in a straight line race, i know the civic has more bhp as "standard"!! but they are very high revving engines so its all top end power??
what tuning potential has the civic got?? is it like corsa's, wack on a new inlet manifold n get 20bhp!

i live not far from Heathrow mate
i drive L reg corsa Gsi 1.6 16v, at the mo its running about 113ish bhp
what you drive?
my mate wont be doing any thing MAJOR like putting a turbo on his car!
but maybe any smaller things, but im guessing the civic vti/vtec come out of the factory pretty highly tuned as it is! i mean 160 from a 1.6 is amazing! so if he wanted more power it would cost shiteloads e.g Turbo etc

PMSL kicked in @ 80 WTf if he was driving it right in every gear as ditch says u would've been well gone mate
but in answer to the original question the vti would kick ass with the gsi (even with 145bhp) had alot of experience of vti's mates got one, had a go in a couple of others they are very quick little cars for what they are.

But the point of a vtec engine is to rev the nuts of it, if he started racing you in 3rd gear at 40 then he obiously doesn't know how to drive a vti - infact he obviously doesn't know how to drive full stop nor u.

A civic is very highly tuned as standard, so gettin extra power means scraping the barrel for the odd horse here and there, thats why people turbo them, its the only way, a civic engine is like a GSI engine with a power box, the power bands are around the same, very high up the rev range, there is a civic in my town and im gaggin to race him in my GSI i will let ya know how bad i lose if the situation ever arises
