What kind of bolt holds the head on to a 20XE? I was tol Torx, it says spline drive in the Haynes manual for the Cavalier, but I have just bought a Torx and Spline drive set - they difinately wont fit! It looks more like a standard bolt head than anything else, just none of my sockets will grip...

mine were torx on the cally engine.
you sure the socket is going down far enough?

i couldn't even get a 1/2" drive socket down the bolt hole to reach.
had to use a 3/8" drive socket with a drive adapter in the end.

Torx are the star shape allen key type things aren't they - they hold the whole car together I have a Coscast head on mine which must be slightly different to yours (if yours is a GM?) as I can get my 1/2" drive sockets in...

yeah thats a possiblity that they cast in bigger apertures to get the tool through.
was a nightmare with mine. even had to take the cams out to get the bolts tightened back up after.

torx is teh star, yeah, but you need a female torx socket, not a torx bit..........

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh..............................

Right, need to get one of them - I only got male ones at the moment. You know what size it is I need - might try and borrow one - spent enough money on tools recently.

not 100% sure, but it's the largest one on a 3/8 rail i've got.
second or third largest on my 1/2"dr set.

i could lend you mine, but you'd have been able to buy one by the time you'd paid petrol to get here.

Ah right, thanks - may as well buy a set off of Ebay, they are going pretty cheap.

have you got the new bolts yet?
should say on the box, or you'll at least be able to match up a socket at halfords or partco etc.

think they are rated in E-numbers
rather than T's
