My downpipe has a heat sheild around it which is corroding/dying on me. It rattles annoyingly all time. I have tried repairing, tieing wire round it, but i think i need a new one.
Trouble is, it looks to me like the pipe and sheild come as one fixed unit which would presumably mean a lot of money. Can i rip of the old sheild and put some kind of heat wrap tape around as a permant fix?
Cheers

Does it give any other benifits, obviously apart from stopping the rattles!

the idea, of that shield is to keep the heat away from your HT leads, and plugs, it also has another use, to feed warm air into the air box on a cold start, but since most people have an aircone anyway then that pipe is usualy pulled off, my heat shield is in the bin because it was doing the same thing, not noticed any damage to HT leads or plugs so just bin it,
