Right I know this is my own fault and shouldnt drive like an idiot. The car in front of me was doing 30mph in a 40mph, so I dropped down a gear to overtake as the road was clear. However, the guy did the same and sped up. Next thing I know a 4x4 is coming the other way. I brake and pull in, but i'm going a bit too fast and my car starts to snake down the road and then spins across the round in front of the 4x4 and lands in a ditch on the opposite side of the road, touching a tree. God knows how the hell the 4x4 didnt hit me. Thankfully the tree was just touching my passenger side door and no one was hurt and no damage to the car. I've just learnt a big lession.

at the end of the day nobody was hurt and the car is ok but you gotta realise that driving is dangerous !

My friend was in the car and we both feel sick was shock. I think I'll be driving alot slower now. If the ditch had been steeper we would have rolled the car without a doubt !!!

you must have hit the brakes pretty hard in order to spin the car at such a low speed, even in the wet! Either that or you turned in too sharply...

turning and breaking upsets the balance of the car, even more so in a corsa but to the amount of oversteer you can get !

I thought yer could overtake anywhere as long you arnt speeding. You can overtake on Double-White lines in the middle of the road if only 2 wheels cross the lines and the car/bike you are over takeing is going under 15mph

Would it make a difference as my car is lowered and had 17" wheels, would that upset the balance. Oh and we've just remember there was mud on the road???

You can overtake if its safe, the other driver either wasn't paying attention or was being a dick. if the white line in the middle isn't solid you can cross it.

there are a number of factors that can affect the stability of a car when steering, its just good that you didnt crash or damage your car !

no offence, but learn to drive a bit better.
I agree with foz, I hate people trying to overtake me - It's the person who's overtaking way of saying I'm driving too slow / incapable of driving any faster.
Though I did overtake a car down some country roads the other day thinking 'fuck if a car comes round that corner coming up, I'm going to be dead' ... End of the day its the risk you take.

It still dosnt rule out the fact that the other driver was a total fuckwit, if he didnt speed up she would have pass and pulled in saftly
