At work I am on XP Pro... In my C:/ there is a file called Documents and Settings, inside are files for each user who has logged on, including a My Documents file (and cookies file). On XP Home does each individual user (hoe many can you have by the way - I want 2) get their own My DOcuments file like above?

yes - just setup 2 different user accounts - u need to be logged in administrator to this - tho u probs already will be - just goto Contol Panel >> User Accounts its pretty simple in there..
u can create limited accounts e.g the other person can't see your files - which is useful if u've downloaded sum porn and u dnt want them to see

Yeah you'll each get your own folder of files. Not sure how many but I know of someone who has 5 so 2 wont be a problem

yeh set yourself as admin then - and set her as limited - she won't be able to see yours but u'll be able to see her's - pointless having 2 limited accounts as neither of you will be able to see each other's stuff which is what u want - but u'll be able to install sod all either - yeah just sent yourself to admin and nat to limited

yes but she will be able to see Robbo's if she boots the computer up into safe-mode & then logs in as Administrator, as there is no password at all for that account, so XP Home security is quite pointless...

I will set up a password for Admin then
In that case I will make it all freely available... neither of us have owt to hide or anything jus thought it would make it more secure if we are both limited, not to stop us seeing each others files
Presumably tho she cudnt delete anything in My Docs and vice versa?

Robbo on XP Home you cant set an Administrator password, its hidden unless you boot in safe-mode & even then you cant change it or set one!

what you could do...
in the Administrator Startup Folder in the Programs menu, create a Batch file with this command...
shutdown -r -t 0
Will just reboot the machine then if anyone tries to log in as Administrator, but MAKE SURE its not in All Users startup folder, or everytime anyone logs on it will boot you out!

if she is limited & your acount is an admin account then no she cant access/view your files
but you can access/view hers if she is limited...
being an admin account gives you the option of encrypting your files, so even then unless its you that has logged in no-one can see the files...
limited accounts cant encrypt there documents

also, encrypting the documents is a 'simple' method to try prevent people logging in as Administrator from viewing your files, but even then to view them they only need to audit the folder there in & then its un-encrypted

^ thats what i think anyway.
Yeh Rob, i agree people have a right to their own privacy, but dont see why we have to have separate accounts, protected with passwords
